The Master of Science in Computer Science & Information Systems is an intensive interdisciplinary graduate program. This program is a Professional Science Master's Program.
With faculty from both the Cameron School of Business and the College of Science and Engineering, the MSCSIS degree will prepare you for leadership roles in the development and implementation of computer and information systems. Experienced professionals from both disciplines facilitate significant classroom sharing of real-world and theoretical knowledge.

What are the requirements for admission to the program (e.g., GRE, GPA, etc.)?
We are looking for students with a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Currently, the GRE and GMAT are waived.
Do I need to have a technical background or degree?
Ideally, applicants have a technical background with most students holding a degree in a technical field (e.g., BS in Computer Science). However, we have many students that come from non-technical backgrounds. These students will be required to take additional courses (i.e., leveling courses) that
will prepare them for their graduate level studies.
Do you have funding, scholarships or assistantships to offset the program’s cost?
For international students, we do offer tuition remission (i.e., students are charged in-state tuition, not out-of-state tuition) for students who are not residents of North Carolina. These remissions are limited in number and competitive. We also offer scholarships and teaching assistantships that applicants can apply for.
Students may also complete the FAFSA at studentaid.gov to be considered for federal aid, state need-based aid, and institutional need-based scholarships and grants.

How long is the program?
The program is currently 36 hours with required coursework (18 hours). electives (12 hours) and a capstone/thesis experience (6 hours).
How many hours can I transfer from another university?
You are able to transfer a total of 6 hours of courses from other universities. However, these need to be approved by the university and program director
Are courses in-person or online?
With the exception of a few electives, all courses in the MS CSIS program are taught in person on the UNCW campus.
Professional Science Master's Degree
The MSCSIS degree is part of the Professional Science Master's (PSM) Program. Professional Science Master's are new graduate degrees designed to allow students to pursue advanced training in science or mathematics, while simultaneously developing workplace skills highly valued by employers.

The MSCSIS program offers various elements to enhance students' learning. One aspect is the Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics, and Information Systems building on campus. This facility includes multidisciplinary, hands-on laboratories with the latest information technologies and dynamically re-configurable research space.
Additionally, the program boasts teaching faculty from both Computer Science and Information Systems disciplines. Moreover, students benefit from organizations that provide hands-on applied learning experiences. Lastly, an IS/CSIS advisory board comprising professionals from the area contributes to the program's richness.
