FAQs
How much does the program cost?
Tuition for this 18-month program depends on the partner choice and the exchange rate. The amount does not include housing or living expenses. Please note that partner institutions’ fees will be paid directly to the partner institution and may be payable in local currency. Total tuition for the entire program costs roughly $19,000.
Are scholarships or other financial aid available?
Scholarships and other financial aid sources vary by country. U.S. federal financial aid is available only to U.S. citizens who complete at least 50% of their coursework in the U.S. Students are welcome to apply for any scholarships available through the Cameron School of Business and UNCW. Additionally, the IMBA program typically has a couple of Graduate Assistantship positions available each year.
Can I work during the program?
Given the intensive nature of this program, students are discouraged from having a full-time position. Some students in the IMBA program will choose to have a part-time job while completing the program. Departments outside Cameron School of Business often hire graduate assistants for special projects. Students in the IMBA program can apply for any of these positions that they may be interested in obtaining.
How long does it take to write a thesis?
Each student writes at a different pace, so an exact timeframe is not available. Dedicated students can complete their thesis by the end of the fall semester following their specialization courses.
What jobs do IMBA alumni get after graduating from the program?
IMBA alumni work in a variety of fields and locations. Our graduates are employed at Fortune 500 companies, start-ups, and everything between in finance, supply chain, marketing, entrepreneurship and sustainability.
Is the IMBA program in-person and STEM-designated?
Yes, the IMBA program is in-person and STEM-designated.
Can I complete the entire program at UNCW?
As an international MBA program, we believe that one of the benefits of the program is that you get a cross-cultural experience. We have designed the program as a dual degree program, where you complete part of the program at UNCW and part of the program at one of our alliance institutions. Thus, you get an immersive cross-cultural experience.
I don’t have an undergraduate degree in business. Can I apply for the program?
Yes, applicants of all academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the IMBA program. We believe that the diversity of backgrounds is a benefit to the program. Applicants without an academic background in business might be required to complete some prerequisite courses before the start of the program.
What is the specialization at UNCW?
The specialization at UNCW is international finance and investments. Students completing this specialization usually gain employment in the financial services industry. For example, graduates have accepted positions in banking, wealth planning, corporate finance, brokerages, etc. Because of the way our program is structured, students take several more specialization classes than they might in other MBA programs. We believe this makes our students competitive in the job market.
Partner Universities
UNCW is a member of the International Business School Alliance (IBSA). IBSA is a network of committed partner institutions who work together to ensure graduates of the alliance are knowledgeable and prepared to enter the workforce. Students completing the IMBA program will spend part of the program at one of these partner schools.
